Arrival and Dismissal Information

Arrival

Student arrival time is between 8:25 AM and 8:45 AM. For safety reasons, students may not enter the building before 8:25 AM. 

Students arriving after 8:45 AM will be marked tardy.

Dismissal

Dismissal begins at 3:25 PM. Buses will be lined up at the front of the building for student loading.

Late Arrival or Early Departure

If your child will be arriving late or leaving early for a doctor or dental appointment, please complete a Digital Excuse Card in the Sapphire Community Web Portal and upload the healthcare provider's note. Without proper documentation, the time may be marked as unexcused. Additional information is available in the Student-Parent Handbook.

For late arrivals, please accompany your child to the school office to check in. Press the intercom button located on the school wall near the blue footprints on the sidewalk. A staff member will greet you at the door after you ring the bell.

We kindly ask that you do not drop off your child and leave without checking them in at the office.

Car Rider Information

Occasional Car Riders

If your child does not typically ride home by car, but you plan to pick them up at dismissal on a specific day, please notify the school office by 2:25 PM. We ask that you avoid calling after 2:25 PM for car rider changes so we have enough time to notify all staff involved in dismissal and ensure your child’s teacher knows where to send them at the end of the day.

To notify us, please do one of the following:

  • Call: (717) 225-4731, ext. 2060

*If writing a note or sending an email, please include your child’s first and last name, the date they will be a car rider, and their teacher’s name.

If your child is typically a van rider, please also contact the District Transportation Office at ext. 3024 to report the change.

Where to pick up your child: Use the Rocket Rider route noted below.

Everyday Car Riders - Rocket Riders

  • If your child will be an everyday car rider, please contact the main office to be added to the Rocket Rider list and to pick up your Rocket Rider dashboard sign. The sign must be displayed in your vehicle during pick-up and must be renewed each school year.
     
  • If your Rocket Rider sign is lost, please contact the main office to request a replacement.

Rocket Rider Drop-off and Pick-up Directions

The route applies only to Rocket Rider families and morning car-rider drop-off students.

New Rocket Rider Traffic Flow

Rocket Rider families will: 

  • Turn onto Rocket Drive using the main campus entrance or Spirit Lane (Do not turn onto the drive leading directly to SGE.) 
  • Travel up Rocket Drive toward the high school. 
  • Turn right onto the new access lane near the high school sand volleyball courts. 
  • Proceed to the Rocket Rider area if the gate is open. 

The gate will only be open during the times listed below. If you arrive before the gate opens, please wait until it opens before proceeding to the Rocket Rider area. 

Gate Open Hours 

  • Morning Drop-Off: 8:20 AM - 8:55 AM 
  • Afternoon Pick-Up: 3:15 PM - 3:45 PM 

If traffic backs up onto Rocket Drive, please pull as far to the right as possible to allow high school traffic and late arrivals to move through campus safely. 

Student drop-off and pick-up locations are the same: enter via the playground access drive and exit from the playground down the SGE drive to Roth Church Road.
